ITW 2021 is a wrap! The industry’s most anticipated event went hybrid this year, with attendees live from National Harbor, Maryland, the first major telecommunications industry event to do so. By all accounts, it was a huge success. Globally, industry leaders also logged in virtually to network and hear from some of the top speakers discuss pressing topics. One of those leaders is our very own Director of Marketing, Jon Falker, who attended ITW201 virtually and sat down with JSA to talk about our company’s most recent news and detail the strategy behind those significant developments.

Prime’s “Partnership-as-a-Service” in Action
During this ITW 2021 interview, Falker referred to our recent partnership with Cyxtera as the perfect example of how Prime Data Centers would like to serve the industry. “Cyxtera is one of the largest retail colocation providers in the US, if not the world, and they have come to us to pre-lease our entire 9MW facility in Santa Clara so that they can focus on their core business, and we can really help out with what we are best at, which is that real estate development and operations.”
Another significant partnership Falker discussed is with Macquarie Capital. Macquarie is one of the largest infrastructure-specific investment banks in the world, with a massive global reach. This strategic partnership with Macquarie Capital has targeted capital investments in excess of $5 billion dollars over the next 10 years and unlocks a lot of capability that will allow Prime to scale globally and rapidly.
“In sourcing data center real estate development – it requires a lot of different parts, it requires land; obviously, it requires investors, physical equipment… and it also requires solving really interesting, challenging infrastructure problems.”

Data Center Sustainability Challenges
How do you make a data center as sustainable as possible? One of those challenges, according to Falker, is sustainable resiliency. Today, he adds, most backup power runs on diesel. As part of Prime Data Centers’ partnership with Macquarie, we are committed to developing backup power that is reliable with a much lower carbon footprint.
A New Silicon Valley Data Center Ahead
As Prime continues to expand across Silicon Valley, Falker highlights our new data center in the heart of Santa Clara. This new addition to our wholesale portfolio offers 80,000 square feet of space and sits on a 1.68-acre plot for a 9MW data center. Available for pre-lease today, this latest turnkey or powered shell data center is intended for either a single tenancy or a small number of wholesale tenants in a multi-tenant configuration.
